This policy explains what information this website collects, why, and what you can ask me to do with it. This is the portfolio website of Bilal Yasin, a freelance WordPress developer. In this policy, “I”, “me”, and “my” refer to Bilal Yasin, who is responsible for the personal information collected here.
The short version
- The only personal information I collect is what you choose to send through the contact form.
- I use it to reply to your enquiry and, if we work together, to manage the project.
- I don’t sell it, rent it, or use it for advertising or mailing lists.
- To understand how the website is used, I use privacy-friendly analytics that don’t use cookies or identify you. There are no advertising trackers.
Information I collect
When you use the contact form
When you send an enquiry, I receive the details you enter: your name, email address, the service you need help with, your timeline and how you heard about me (if you choose to say), and your project details. These are sent to me by email so I can reply to you.
To prevent spam, the form briefly uses your IP address to limit how often messages can be sent. A one-way, anonymised version of the IP address is stored for 30 seconds and then deleted automatically. The form also contains a hidden field that only automated bots fill in, and uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-friendly security check that confirms you’re a person without using advertising cookies. Turnstile processes technical information about your browser and device to do this.
When you visit the website
Like almost every website, the server that hosts this site may automatically record technical information when pages are requested, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages visited. These server logs are used for security and to keep the website running, and are kept by my hosting provider for a limited period.
Cookies
This website doesn’t set cookies for visitors, and the analytics described below work without cookies. WordPress sets cookies only for people who log in to manage the website. Your browser may store small preferences locally to make the page work. These aren’t used to track you.
Analytics
I use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service, to see how the website is used, for example which pages are visited, which country visitors come from, which website referred them, the type of device and browser, and actions such as button clicks or sending the contact form. Umami doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t track you across other websites, and reports this information only as anonymous, combined statistics. It isn’t used to identify you or for advertising.
I use this information to improve the website and understand which content is useful, based on my legitimate interest in running and improving my business website.
How I use your information
- To reply to your enquiry. This is based on your request for me to contact you.
- To provide and manage services you’ve agreed to. This is based on our contract or steps you’ve asked me to take before one.
- To keep the website secure and free of spam. This is based on my legitimate interest in protecting the website.
- To keep business and financial records where the law requires it.
Who your information is shared with
I don’t sell or share your information with third parties for their own use. To run the website and deliver messages, your information is handled by service providers acting on my behalf:
- Website hosting (Hostinger), which stores the website and its server logs.
- Email services (Hostinger Mail and Brevo), which deliver contact form messages to my inbox and store my email.
- Analytics (Umami), which processes anonymous usage statistics as described above.
- Spam protection (Cloudflare Turnstile), which checks contact form submissions for automated abuse.
These providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where that happens, I rely on providers that offer appropriate safeguards for international data transfers. I may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Links to other websites
This website links to my profiles on Upwork and LinkedIn, and to websites I’ve worked on. Those websites have their own privacy policies, and I’m not responsible for how they handle your information.
How long I keep information
I keep enquiry emails for as long as needed to respond and follow up. If no project goes ahead, I delete them within 24 months. If we work together, I keep project correspondence for as long as the work continues and afterwards for as long as needed for business and legal records.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you may have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information I hold about you
- ask me to correct information that’s inaccurate
- ask me to delete your information
- object to or ask me to restrict how I use it
- complain to your local data protection authority
To make a request, contact me using the details below. I’ll respond within one month.
Security
I take reasonable steps to protect your information, including a secure (HTTPS) connection and keeping the website and its software up to date. No method of sending or storing information online is completely secure, but I work to keep yours safe.
Changes to this policy
If I change how I handle personal information, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
